Prof. Dr. Vusal Gasimli, Executive Director of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication presented at the “International Finance and Banking Society” (IFABS 2025) conference at the University of Oxford. The conference, held from April 15-17 at the Saïd Business School of Oxford University, focused on the theme “The Path to Financial Resilience: Managing Changing Challenges in the Global Landscape.” Over 200 representatives from the global scientific community discussed crucial issues such as financial stability, macroprudential policy, climate risk, and artificial intelligence in finance.
During his presentation, V. Gasimli introduced his paper titled “Risk Premium Shock: Policy Measures in the Case of Unanchored Inflation Expectations and High Exchange Rate Pass-Through – The Romanian Experience.” The research, co-authored with Vüsala Cəfərova, Head of Department at the Center, analyzes the challenges Romania faced with unanchored inflation expectations and high exchange rate pass-through. It also examines important policy measures for developing countries, using a DSGE model for analysis.
The opening of the conference featured speeches from IFABS President Meryem Duygun, a representative from the Bank of England, Eddie Gerba, and a representative from the European Central Bank, Manfred Kremer. The three-day conference covers topics such as macrofinance relationships, financial policy, ESG frameworks, and the role of artificial intelligence in financial decision-making.
